After the reading the front of this flyer, you may be saying, "The Sabbath is for the Jews, isn't it?" But if you really read the Bible, you will see the complete opposite!...Jesus said "The Sabbath was made for man.."(Mark 2:27 N.I.V). In the original language , "man" means all humanity, every man, women, child, black, white, not just the Jews! However, many people consider Sunday to be a Holy day, contrary to what God commanded in the Ten Commandments, where it says in the 4th Commandment to; "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy....the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God."(Exodus 20:8-11 N.I.V). Most Christians think the seventh-day Sabbath (Saturday) was intended only for the Jewish people, but the Bible proves that the Sabbath was established at creation, long before there were any Jewish people!(Genesis 2:2-3). If you grew up attending church on Sunday, it would probably be difficult to seriously consider another viewpoint. However, when you read the scriptures you will see that the Sabbath really is for everyone and not only for the Jews! (Isaiah 56:2, 6-7 & Hebrews 4:4, 9-11).

Another reason why so many Christians have chosen Sunday as their day of worship is that there are a few verses in the New Testament that appear to support the idea. One of these verses is Acts 20:7 N.I.V: "On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Paul spoke to the people..." This must be a Sunday church service, right? No. This was a special gathering, "because [Paul] intended to leave the next day" (verse 7). Throughout the book of Acts you will see Paul and the apostles kept the seventh day Sabbath, according to the commandment of God.

Another classic verse that is thought by many to do away with seventh-day Sabbath-keeping is Colossians 2:16 N.I.V: "Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day." There it is-no more Saturday Sabbath -keeping!...Not so fast! A closer study shows that these verses refer to Jewish ceremonial days, which were indeed abolished when Jesus died on the cross. There were many "Sabbaths" in the Jewish calendar that were not the weekly Sabbath. All these were outlined in Leviticus 23.

Interestingly, some people think Revelation 1:10, which mentions the "Lord's day", means Sunday. But what day is this really? Jesus said, "So the Son of Man [Jesus] is Lord even of the Sabbath [Saturday]" (Mark 2:28 N.I.V). Therefore, "The Lord's day" can only refer to Saturday, & not Sunday....Further study on the Sabbath in the Bible will clearly show that Jesus intended that His people would be honouring the seventh-day Sabbath when He returns to earth. God's end-time people will "obey God's commandments and remain faithful to Jesus" (Revelation 14:12 N.I.V). The "saints" will be keeping all ten of God's commandments, not nine of them. Finally, the Sabbath is so precious to God, that he even states that it will be kept in the "new heavens and the new earth" & that "all flesh" will come together to worship before Him on the Sabbath day (Isaiah 66:22-23). There you have it...even Heaven the Sabbath will still be being kept! There are many more exciting things to learn about the true Sabbath...This flyer was not produced to condemn anyone, but to hi-light one of the common Biblical misconceptions that the Sabbath was made only for the Jews!
